Yellow carrots have not been specially bred as a variety or type, they are found in the wild and have been known for a very long time. The color of the root crop is affected by the presence and concentration of a coloring pigment in it. For carrots, these are:
- xanthophyll (it is he who is found in yellow carrots);
The homeland of this culture is Central Asia. If we talk about statistics all over the world, then it should be noted that it is the yellow roots that are the most demanded and popular. We use them a little, since cylindrical orange carrots are usual. It is very difficult to find yellow carrots on sale with us, however, it has very useful qualities:

This variety was bred in Tashkent in 1946 and is still successfully grown both in the beds and in the fields on an industrial scale. The ripening period is medium early and does not exceed 115 days. Although recommended for cultivation in Central Asia, seeds can also be grown in Russia (as seen in the video above). The yield is 2.5-6 kilograms per square meter, the root crop itself is wide-cylindrical with a blunt tip. The use is universal.
This hybrid is perfect for various regions of Russia, since it is resistant to a large number of diseases. The shape of the root crops is fusiform (that is, similar to a spindle), the color is rich yellow, they are thin and rather long (reach 23 centimeters). The yellow carrots of this hybrid are early ripening, they give a rich harvest, despite some conditions that are not optimal for the culture. The only requirement is the presence of loose soils, rich in oxygen.
An imported hybrid of this culture, the name translates as "yellow sun". These roots are also bright in color, good for frying and processing, and are spindle-shaped. In length, they can reach 19 centimeters. Demanding on soil looseness, illumination, air temperature from 16 to 25 degrees, which are optimal conditions. The fruits are tasty, juicy and crunchy. Children will love them. Ripening is 90 days, which allows this variety to be attributed to the early ones.
Some gardeners believe that unusual varieties contain GMOs and are somewhat unusual. This is not true. In the countries of the East and in the Mediterranean, yellow carrots are highly valued for their taste and are successfully grown.
