You can also modify the potato gratin by adding minced meat, ham, bacon or vegetables. It's up to everyone.
Ingredients for a classic potato gratin (4 people)
- 800 grams of potatoes (firm cooking)
- 200 milliliters of cream
- 100 milliliters of milk
- 200 grams of grated cheese
- possibly garlic
- baking dish
The preparation of the classic potato gratin
" Step 1:
First you need to peel potatoes and cut them into thin strips. A vegetable slicer is best suited for this, as it is the quickest way.
" Step 2:
Now grease the baking dish with a little butter so that the potatoes don't bake later.
" Step 3:
Now layer the fine potato slices into the mold like roof tiles.
Then season the potatoes with pepper, salt and nutmeg, as the gratin will later become too bland. You can also sprinkle a little garlic over the gratin. If you want to modify the gratin a bit, you can now add bacon or ham. Broccoli, mushrooms, cauliflower or tomatoes can also be refined.
Next, mix the cream and milk together. It is also possible to do without the milk and use pure cream. This liquid is simply poured over the remaining ingredients.
Now sprinkle everything evenly with the grated cheese. It is a matter of taste whether you choose a mild cheese like Gouda or a spicy cheese like Emmentaler. With a spicy cheese, of course, the dish gets a more intense taste.
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees with top and bottom heat and 180 degrees with fan oven. The gratin is now in the oven for around 35 to 40 minutes. It is done as soon as a golden brown crust has formed on it.
Finished! Good Appetite!!!
